One Stage in Your Journey is Over, Another Begins

"Try as we might, happy as we were, we can't go back (we can only go forward)" -Margaret Hale, North and South, my addition.

It's true, we can't go back in time. Although with the amount of time I spend in museums, it must seem like I'm trying. But I can't go back to being an undergrad, or being 5...but that's really ok. Frankly, just because you were happy at a time, it doesn't mean that you won't be happy again. Also, people change. Each experience changes you in some way. I'm not the same as I was before I went to SD. In essentails, I haven't changed, but there are things that are different.

I've been musing about my time in SD. By musing, I mean getting my head clear for all sorts of information about sailing and educating. BUT, what I learned in SD, before conto tinue with my new advebture, are these fun facts:

-God will call you places, not necessarily where you think you should go and there was never a promise that it would be easy. But regardless, God will go with you and not forsake you. This, i did know, but it was hammered into my thick skull a bit more :)

-Home is where the heart is, but even if you're far from home you can still be happy. It's kind of like that "bloom where you're planted' thing.

-Living on your own is tricky, but do-able.

-Write things down and never forget to balance your checkbook. These last two are pretty self-explainitory.

-I also learned a lot about museums, which was the point of the adventure. I learned how house museums are run, about frontier history, archives and non-profits. I also learned about Deadwood & Lead, two fascinating towns.

-I also learned that I am a lot stronger than i think i am. And I got to know God and trust Him in a while new way.

And that, dear readers, is the basic gist of what I learned in South Dakota.
