This game is called, catch-up on Bailey's life! Yay! Here we go. In the time since I last blogged, quite a few things have happened to me. So, in the interest of my being easily entertained and amused, I wrote a poem. Enjoy!
"It was the day before Christmas when last I blogged,
And things have been happening, good golly hot dog!
Four ships together, midnight mass afterwards,
Dancing, singing and a feast full of birds.
Heading south to the warmth, I faced one of my fears,
And almost went splat but was saved by crew dear.
Ed sails, battle sails, learning is fun!
Days off are magical too, it's all just begun.
On the downword spiral of my 7 month stint,
Checking my pockets to get rid of lint.
So Cal is lovely, great fun is had,
I go to Minney's and get a hat for my dad.
North we must turn, headed back to the Bay,
We got to sail with no enigines for over a day!
Making new friends on both boats is fun,
But it's sad when contracts are done.
I make friends with people who I later realize
I should have hung out with all along-big surprise.
Oakland is fun, but a little tricky,
Redwood City is far from things and we're all picky.
San Fran is where I say goodbye to friends dear,
But I'll see them again so I only shed one tear.
The ramp is broken so to Sausalito we go,
The town is lovely and the Bay Model a show.
I drag friends to see Hunger Games,
One was a bit tipsy, I won't mention names.
Our time in the Bay is drawing to a close,
I think I'm sunburned, here on my nose.
Despite the troubles I have been to face,
God's love sustains me, with His Unfailing Grace.
While floating around I hear fabulous news,
Grad school is letting me in,. academia coos.
U of I is where I am bound in the fall,
To study Anthropology is my new call
An archaeologist is what I will be,
I am so excited, I'm hopping with glee
Despite heading inland for 9 monthes at a time,
Sailing is in my blood now, like a chime.
So I will be back, ocean, never you fear,
And when I leave I will shed many a tear.
But three months remain for this stint on my boat,
And I plan to be the best I can, in all the ways I can,
Whether working with happy folk or cranky old goat,
I will enjoy my time left here, dear fan!
I will be excellant, that is my vow,
So therefore, this poem ends, goodbye for now. "
I think that this poem really says it all. Just kidding. Elaborations are also in the works.
Maybe you should go to grad school and major in poetry. You have a gift! Thanks for sharing Bailey!
